The Wave Review - June 2004.

Information from Susan

As yet another year winds down, it is time to count our blessings and express my thanks to all our Goddard families. I sincerely appreciate your endorsement of our school as you entrust your children to us each and every day. It is my hope that 2005 is a year of good health and prosperity for all of you.

From the Director's Chair

Happy Holidays and best wishes to all of our Goddard families. Thank you to everyone who is participating in our “Giving Tree” project. If you have not yet picked an ornament from the tree, just stop by outside the directors’ office.

Reminders

  • Please be sure to sign your child in and out every day.
  • Please check your mailbox regularly.
  • Please do not leave your car running in the parking lot.
  • Do we have your most current contact and emergency information? Winter is upon us!
  • If you are not going to be at the office, if you are doing your holiday shopping or on the road, please let us know! We need to know the most immediate way to reach you in an emergency. Keep those cell phones on!!
  • If your child is sick, please be sure the office knows. We are required by both Goddard and DYFS to track all illnesses.

Tiny Turtles

In November, the Turtles learned about “Farms,” “Food” and “Thanksgiving.” Reading Eat and Baa Baa Black Sheep helped us in our discoveries. For Thanksgiving, we made turkeys out of handprints and sang “Mr. Turkey” and “One Little, Two Little, Three Little Indians.”

The Turtles are so excited to learn about all the different holidays in December. We will be learning about holiday treats and colors too. Building a gingerbread house and learning the song “Five Round Cookies” sounds like so much fun.

We said a sad good-bye to Stella P. and wish her luck in the Jellyfish room.

Smiling Starfish

We have been practicing putting on our own coats and zipping our zippers. We have been busy counting to ten, learning to recognize our colors and trying to sit on the potty.

Perky Penguins

We have had a great time in the Penguin Room! We loved the Goddard Deli & Bakery and have many more fun things planned. Many friendships have formed and grown. We’ll be learning about “Winter Weather,” “Holiday Foods” and “Holidays Around the World.”

We’ve come a long way in writing our names and recognizing letters and numbers. Beginning in January, we will encourage everyone to write their names without dotting them first.

The Penguins will be collecting food for the hungry beginning the week of December 6th. Be sure to check the room for more details.

Please be sure everyone comes to school with hats and mittens as we will be outside everyday.

Wondrous Whales

Our themes for December are: “A Time to Give,” “Hanukkah,” “Holidays Around the World” and “Christmas.” Our new sight words include: “we,” “be,” “he,” “she,” “cat” and “dog.”

We had a blast performing at the Holiday Concert.

The food at the Thanksgiving Feast was delicious! We are looking forward to a Holiday Party on Wednesday, December 22nd. What a great way to end 2004 with our Whale friends!

Afterschool Penguins

We are having a great time traveling around the world! We have been to Mexico, Belgium and Germany. In the upcoming months, we will be going to Russia, Canada and Switzerland.

We were so excited to perform for the Holiday Concert. We were so busy practicing and couldn’t wait to be onstage. We hope everyone enjoyed it.
