The Wave Review.

Information from Susan

Will it ever be Spring? Let’s hope the “in like a lion” thing works and that beautiful weather is right around the corner. Although I have to tell you that we are not letting winter get in the way of our plans for summer or for next September. We are busy trying to handle all schedule change requests and looking at transitions for the Fall. Looks like we will be having a full house!

As many of you know, last year’s toddler playground project was partially funded by a $10,000 grant from AT&T. If your company does not provide onsite childcare, there is a good chance that they have a grant program available. Looking ahead, we anticipate a renovation of our preschool playground and having a corporate grant (or two!) would certainly help with upgrades. Just watch in your company newsletters or check with HR to see if there is any funding available.

Reminders

  • Please be sure to sign your child in and out every day.
  • Please check your mailbox regularly.
  • Please do not leave your car running in the parking lot.
  • Do we have your most current contact and emergency information?
  • If your child has received new immunizations, please bring the dates to the office so we may keep your child’s file up to date.
  • If your child is sick, please be sure the office knows. We are required by both Goddard and DYFS to track all illnesses.

From the Directors' Chair

The State of New Jersey requires every child in our school to have up to date immunizations. This includes Varivax (chicken pox). The state audits our records annually. If we are not 100% in compliance, we will have only 30 days to provide them with any missing information. After 30 days, if your child does not have all required shots, he/she will not be able to return until all immunizations are current!

Open House

We will be having an Open House for new enrollees on Saturday, April 23rd from 10 am to 1pm.

Parent Association News

Thank you for supporting our recent fundraisers. We are pleased to bring a school wide Kids-er-cise day in March and a petting zoo in April.

Label, Label, Label

Please be sure all of your child(ren)’s belongings are labeled with first and last name, including all items in your child’s lunchbox.

Seal Pups

We had fun learning about Dr. Seuss’s birthday and St. Patrick’s Day. We are looking forward to exploring our planet Earth. We are very eager for Spring to arrive!

We can’t wait to learn to sing “Earth Day” with our teachers. Playing our instruments sounds like fun! Dancing is also a class favorite

Happy Birthday to Shreyas (3/27), Brian (4/4) and Ryan (4/12)!! Welcome to Graham R. and his family! We are happy to have you in the Seal Pup Room

Tiny Turtles

In March, we learned about “Authors & Artists.” In April, our focus will be on the planet.

Our friends are learning how to repeat what is said to them and they are learning to say “please” and “thank you” on their own.

Some new songs we are working on are “The Hokey Pokey,” “I’m a Little Teapot” and “Baby Bumblebee.”

Welcome to Jamie H. and her parents! We are glad to have you in the Tiny Turtle room!

Smiling Starfish

Our favorite author in March was Iza Trapani. The Starfish love listening to books on tape.

The Starfish can’t wait for Spring and the warmer weather! We will have fun learning about bugs and flowers in April.

We will practice putting on our shoes and drinking from cups. The Starfish are each learning the first letter of their names.

Happy Birthday to Christina P. on April 11th!!!

Jumping Jellyfish

For March, we enjoyed making bug impressions in playdough and mixing blue and yellow paint to make green. In April, we will listen to a rainstick and can’t wait to try bowling with recycled soda bottles.

New songs that we will be learning for the spring include “Ladybug,” “Little Cloud,” “If All the Raindrops” and “The Itsy Bitsy Spider.”

Happy Birthday to Carly (3/4), Sophie (3/16), Emily (4/15) and Michael P (4/30).

Marvelous Manatees

The Manatees had a blast learning about Dr. Seuss! Their favorite story was The Cat in the Hat. St. Patrick’s Day was tons of fun! That silly leprechaun was up to lots of tricks!

Learning about the planet Earth in April sounds great!

The Manatees are starting to learn the first letters of their names. We will soon practice tracing our first names by “signing in” every morning.

Happy Birthday to Jenna K (3/8), Justin (3/18), Alex (3/22), Jaclyn (3/27), Evan (4/1), Alana (4/7) and Joshua Q (4/26).

Thank you to Mrs. S. (Madison’s Mom) for reading Dr. Seuss books with us and helping out on our Pajama Day. Mrs. L. (Alexandra’s Mom) did an awesome job with the Dolphin and Otter classes. Thank you for teaching us about caring for books! We love the tote bags too! Thank you to Dr. I. (Toby’s Dad) for visiting our class. We learned a lot about taking care of ourselves and going to the doctor.

Reminders: Please only one soft toy for naptime and one Show & Share item per child. Please leave all other toys at home. Thank you!

Outstanding Otters

March brought us the themes of “Picasso,” “Jan Brett,” “Leo Lionni,” “Dr. Seuss” and “St. Patrick’s Day.” The Otters had a blast making their “Recycled Art Box.” We learned new games to introduce the concepts of addition and subtraction. We have also begun working on telling time.

In April, we will explore “Spring,” “Outer Space,” “Earth Day” and “Weather.” We will be finishing up the alphabet and starting to review all our ABC’s starting in April. We are all very excited about Mr. Ray’s new CD (we even have a class favorite!). We have learned songs for St. Patrick’s Day.

We had a great time on our trip to Crayola! We can hardly wait to go to the RVCC Planetarium. Thank you to all of our chaperones!

Perky Penguins

Measurement and graphing are skills we worked on in March. The Foot Book by Dr. Seuss taught us to learn our left from our right. Our letters for the month are “D,” “B,” “P” and “Z.” We will be making many of our own books, including our very own cookbooks.

Happy Birthday to Kelsey, Dana and Kevin. We are looking forward to our class trips to the library and the RVCC Planetarium. We had a blast at the Crayola Factory!

Thank you to all Penguin parents who came and read to the class for “Read Across America.” Stop by and enjoy our Penguin Artists window! The class painted the front window this month all by themselves!
